Exclusive and our original design; the beauty bubbles in the shower pan, as well as the very convincing egrets eyes. Note how our custom shelving (if you can find them) do not impede the mural ... that's good design!
Next step is the glass. We have selected crystal clear "Starfrit" glass, chrome hinges and an unobtrusive door knob.

From beginning to end this was, hands down, the most fun project we have created and I am sure there will be many more fun filled moments spent on this FUNctional piece of art!

Drawings for the shower walls are now complete and ready to make templates. The second photo shows progress on the shower pan cutting of the marble. Some tweaking of colours and dremeling to place the glass bubbles and we will have the pan done and ready to install.
This 20 year old ensuite required a renovation. The design priorities for the room were to be fresh, open, simple and easy to clean with an enduring style. The room is 170 sq ft, has plenty of character, corner windows with a fantastic view and antiques so we selected "Vintage" for style and white for the main colour. The room will feature an 80 sq ft custom cut-tile mural in marble designed by Wendy and installed by Brian. We are fortunate to have all the marble supplied by Okanagan Tile Company Ltd.
The shower pan will be a cut-tile mural of Koi in a pond complete with lilies, lilly pads and bubbles! The walls of the shower will feature Egrets nesting, surrounded by large lush foliage of wetland plants.
The steps taken to date, as illustrated in the photos above include : 1. Brian first set the pan in place. 2. Wendy then designed the mural starting with the koi pond drawings while the renovations continued. 3. Once the pan drawings were refined, she generated the templates. 4. Then selects the stone for each individual piece according to colour, texture and pattern to generate a convincing illustration 5. Currently the pan is at the marble cutting stage and in Brian's talented hands. 6. While the Koi pond is being cut by Brian, Wendy is proceeding with the wall mural drawings and templates.
Check back in a few days to see the completed wall design. Don't forget to RSS feed so that you receive the new post right to your inbox as soon as I post each stage.

Last night was Open House at Coldstream Helicopter's in Vernon. This brand new, state of the art, helicopter hangar is a fantastic accomplishment in every detail of which Brian and I were thrilled to be a part of. We designed and installed a cut-tile mural on the floor of the reception area of the new hangar.
Each project brings it's own unique challenges and this one was size. Creating the drawings and templates required a huge area and required producing the template in three sections. As pre-cutting is essential in these projects and space is needed to leave the pieces in position on the templates until installation, each of the three sections were pre-cut and moved to storage to await installation.
